How Jeff Lost 200 Lbs!

At 467 pounds, I was in poor health and had just about given up, and I made sure my life insurance was in order. I was getting everything lined up for when I wasn’t going to be around. I figured my wife, Patti, had 10 years of income if something were to happen to me – she could grieve for a while, then find someone to take care of her. I worried I would never get to see my three granddaughters get married. I knew I needed to change or I was going to die.

At my weight, exercise was too hard to start with, so I began with the products first. Patti was the one who got me started on Herbalife® products, using the Formula 1 Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake Mix. She learned about Herbalife through a friend who was a yoga instructor. Patti tried the products for herself first, and liked them so much, a week later she had me drinking the shakes. Then, she became an Independent Distributor.

At 43 years of age, the most challenging aspect of my plan was going on a diet, but I stuck with it. Seven months into my plan, I was more confident that I could achieve my goals.

However, my journey to good health was thrown a curve when I had a mini stroke. I was devastated both physically and emotionally, and the side effects from my medications were terrible. What got me through this tough time was Patti not giving up on me – she is my rock, the reason I am here. And it was thanks to Herbalife, because that’s when I started on Niteworks®, Herbalifeline®, Mega Garlic Plus, CoQ10 Plus and Tri-Shield®.

I also continued with Formula 1 shakes and Prolessa™ Duo. Within two weeks of starting the Heart Health products, I began to feel better. I started playing chess and reading again, challenging my mind. On a scale of one to 10, I was a solid eight! Before this, Patti would stand beside me with a phone in her hand waiting to call 911.

Since I began my weight-loss program, I’ve lost 201 pounds! All of my weight loss is purely Herbalife® product driven. And, I’m able to do so much more physically. Last year, I couldn’t walk up the stairs or even 100 yards without being on my knees out of breath. Now, I’ve started classes in Krav Maga, the training system used by the Israeli Defense Forces!

My outlook on life has changed so much. I left a six-figure job in the cutthroat construction business to become an Independent Distributor. I’m in my 40s and I love life now. I look forward to getting up every morning and being here for my grandchildren and seeing them get married.

My advice to others facing similar challenges is never ever give up! There’s no reason you can’t achieve everything you want physically and mentally if you have the right attitude.

Benifits of Losing Weight

On father’s day we honor our dad’s by telling them we appreciate them.  For me I fathers day is a little hollow because my dad isn’t with us anymore.  We make many choices in life.  One choice that many people don’t think about enough is the choice to take care of ourselves.  As a husband and father many people depend on me.  I want to be there for them as well as the fact that I want to live life to the fullest.  My dad made the choice to let his addiction to sweets and high calorie foods control him which led to an early demise after much suffering from the effects of diabetes.  I have made the choice to be there for my family..I don’t just want to get by, rather I want to be active and enjoy life!  A few months ago I made a quality decision to get my weight under control.  It’s not a one time goal but a life choice.  Today twenty five pounds lighter I am headed in the right direction.  Yesterday I hiked up Hamilton Mountain in the Columbia River Gorge.  That would have been extremely difficult for me a year ago.  The benefit’s of losing weigh are many.  Today I know I will be here for many, many more father’s days to come!

My desire to to help many of you to be here for many, many more father’s days as well!

Does Being Over Weight Cause Diabetes?

My dad contracted diabetes when he was in his mid to late forties.  Not sure exactly when.  He did not take care of himself very well and it led to a downward spiral.  I found this article and it confirmed what I had thought.

Being overweight is a major risk factor for developing type II diabetes. Not all overweight people develop diabetes, so other factors, such as a genetic predisposition for diabetes, likely also play a role. Maintaining a normal weight can prevent diabetes and can help manage the disease if you do develop diabetes.
Diabetes results when glucose is not properly managed by our bodies. Normally, the food we eat is converted into glucose and used by our cells to sustain life activities or stored in the liver for later use. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, is the cellular key that opens cells and allows them to take up glucose. If insulin production is disrupted, cells can’t use glucose. If insulin is produced but cells are unable to recognize insulin (insulin resistance) or there is not enough insulin for all the cells (excessive fat cells), the end result is the same–glucose can’t enter cells properly, and too much glucose remains in the circulating blood. Erratic levels of glucose in the blood are hazardous to the long-term health of many organs in the body such as eyes, kidneys, heart, nerves, gums and feet.Manwithgut

How I Iost weight without starving.

John Lunsford

Up until I was in my mid thirties I could mostly eat anything I wanted and really did not gain weight. Although I noticed every few years I would gain a few pounds I was not concerned. Then when forty hit that all changed. I started gaining weight at an alarming rate. This was a real concern for me because when my dad hit forty he got obese and came down with diabetes. By his mid-fifties he had a quadruple bypass and his kidneys failed and had to take a medical retirement. He spent the last years of his life living from dialysis to dialysis a miserable existence. He only made it to sixty six when he succumbed to the many effects of diabetes. Seeing him go that way was rough. Talk about a low quality of life. I want to be healthy when I retire so I can do all the things I want to do, travel, explore this amazing country and the world as well as spend time with friends and family. Some thing had to change. I did not want to go on some fad diet. It had to be something sustainable and I wasn’t going to feel starved! When I started this I was at 215 lbs. Now a few months latter I am at 190. Now my weight is not so much the goal, as I am working out regularly so I have gained some muscle mass so my waist is shrinking while my weight loss has slowed. I have had to purchase new cloths and occasionally when I wear my old clothes they are baggy. Then I noticed something that was completely unexpected. I had not been sick at all! I work in close proximity to my co-workers and have noticed a resistance to the colds and flu that they contract. This last year there was some nasty colds and flu go around at work. I cashed out a bunch of sick days and used the money to purchase a flat screen T.V. and some other things. The products I use are from a well established company that is well know for their high quality natural products. I would love to help you get healthier and reach your goals.
